La brecha de género en la investigación científica en el ámbito de la comunicación en España

Resumen

Propósito. A lo largo de las décadas el campo de la comunicación se ha consolidado como disciplina científica, lo que ha fomentado una notable paridad de género entre los investigadores a nivel cuantitativo, pero no cualitativo. Esta investigación tiene como objetivo principal analizar exhaustivamente la participación de género y las desigualdades en la investigación en comunicación en España a lo largo de cinco décadas. Metodología. Para alcanzar este objetivo se analiza la participación de género en la investigación en Comunicación en España a partir de 15.479 artículos indexados en Scopus entre 1968 y 2025. Resultados y conclusiones. Los resultados indican que el campo ha alcanzado un nivel notable de paridad cuantitativa, con una distribución equilibrada de autores y autoras, en contraste con otras disciplinas. Sin embargo, a pesar de esta paridad, persisten sutiles desigualdades cualitativas. Las mujeres están menos representadas en los niveles más altos de productividad y ocupan posiciones más periféricas en las redes de liderazgo académico, lo que refleja el Efecto Matilda. Los patrones de colaboración muestran una ligera tendencia hacia la hemofilia de género, y las mujeres participan con menos frecuencia en redes que mejoran la productividad y la visibilidad. Aporte original. Estos hallazgos señalan la necesidad de ir más allá de las estrategias centradas exclusivamente en la inclusión cuantitativa y adoptar medidas que aborden la dinámica estructural de las redes académicas o los contextos institucionales que configuran la participación. La paridad numérica es una condición necesaria, pero insuficiente, para la igualdad de género en la ciencia.
