La honestidad en los personajes de ficción en series de Netflix

Resumen

Propósito. En un contexto marcado por el consumo masivo de contenidos audiovisuales por parte de jóvenes y adolescentes, este artículo analiza la representación de la honestidad en las cinco series más vistas en Netflix entre septiembre de 2024 y marzo de 2025, un tema inexplorado y pionero en la ficción seriada contemporánea. Metodología. Desde una perspectiva interdisciplinar que integra la comunicación y la ética educativa, se examinan las manifestaciones de honestidad y deshonestidad en 50 personajes, utilizando una taxonomía basada en el trabajo de Miller (2020). Basándose en la técnica del análisis de contenido, este estudio identifica patrones narrativos y discute sus posibles implicaciones en el desarrollo ético de los espectadores. Resultados y conclusiones. Los resultados muestran que la honestidad, como valor narrativo, actúa como columna vertebral en la construcción de los personajes estudiados y sus relaciones, y que se delimitan escenarios de aprendizaje moral que pueden influir significativamente en la percepción moral de la audiencia. Se concluye que las series analizadas tienen un potencial educativo importante en relación con la honestidad, ya que presentan modelos de comportamiento que pueden ser imitados, rechazados o reinterpretados por el público; influyen emocionalmente en la audiencia a su favor; pueden dificultar el juicio moral del espectador; y presentan contextos que dificultan actuar con honestidad. Aporte original. La investigación sobre honestidad en la ficción seriada contemporánea es prácticamente inexistente. Nuestro estudio es pionero y contribuye a cubrir ese vacío en la literatura desde una perspectiva interdisciplinar.
