The regulation of journalists proffesional relations in Spain's news media. From the Editorial Staff Rules of El País to the News

Abstract

This article describes the characteristics of “editorial staff statutes” implemented in news media in Spain, where the national public broadcaster CRTVE and the international news agency EFE have recently adopted this type of self-regulatory tools intended to protect journalist’s independence. These editorial statutes also include provisions to facilitate the participation of editorial staff in those decisions made by the owners and editors of the news company which might affect the quality of the news service.
